Mini Sessions for Harvey

In case you didn't know, I'm a displaced Texan.  I describe myself this way because it's true.  I was born and raised in Texas and never dreamed I would leave. When I agreed to move to South Carolina, with my then boyfriend, I was convinced it was temporary. 8 years later and 2 kids, I am forced to concede that this is home...for now.

Texans have an unshakable pride. It can't fully be described to non-Texans.  Yes, others love their home states and are proud, but it's not the same. In Texas you can buy food in the shape of the state and I don't mean by accident. You can buy chips and pasta in the shape of Texas. I grew up saying the Texas pledge of allegiance after the national pledge. I can name our state flower, bird, nut, tree, pie etc. I can tell you the history of Texas and you see as many if not more Texas flags in Texas than US flags.

My family is all still in Texas so as I watched Harvey not just hit my state, but hit my hometown I was devastated. All those tiny Texas towns they kept listing on the Weather Channel were my old stomping grounds.  As they named different towns, I could name their high school mascot and picture the football field I cheered on for Friday nights. Then the flooding started and I watched the storm move its destruction to Houston. The first big city I ever traveled to and where I attended 2 of my 6 proms. I attended both the Kingwood and Dickinson proms in high school so watching Dickinson flood was heart breaking.

All of this is to say that I am truly moved to help the community that was once mine. For this reason, I'm doing something I NEVER do. I will be offering mini sessions to raise funds to send to Harvey victims. Mini sessions and me are a rare combination.

Here are the details...I will only have a maximum of 10 spots. The cost is $125. $100 from each session will be going to Communities In Schools-Houston. CIS is the non-profit I worked for when I first moved here to Charleston. I'm familiar with the organization and happy to answer any questions. The do incredible work and I know the money will go directly to children, families, and the classrooms hardest hit by this disaster.

The sessions will be in Hampton Park on September 30th and October 1st. You will receive 25 minutes for photos of immediate family, 5 high-resolution digital downloads of your choosing from the on-line gallery, style assistance, and print release. You have the choice of morning or afternoon. Payment is due in full at the time of booking and is non-refundable.

Email me and lets get you some gorgeous images for fall and know that your money is giving back to those in need.
